(Baltar Projection - Beach)

Transcript by: Polaris

Baltar: Good to see you. I far prefer these picturesque settings for our little interludes. Don't you? I thought you'd abandon me to your Cylon comrades.
HeadSix: Would I do that?
Baltar: You've always been more, unpredictable than your flesh and blood counterparts.
bscap008
HeadSix: A man who loves women as much as you should have learned that a long time ago.
Baltar: I'm a slow learner.
HeadSix: Then take this period as a time to learn all you can about the Cylons. You'll need it in the days ahead.
Baltar: Something special on the horizon?
HeadSix: Cylon psychology is based on projection.
Baltar: Projection?
HeadSix: It's how they chose to see the world around them. The only difference, is you choose to see me.
Baltar: What are you, really? You're either connection to the woman I knew on Caprica, or you're a damaged part of my sub-conscious struggling for self expression. So which one is it?
HeadSix: I'm an angel of God sent here to help you. Just as I always have been.

(Basestar - Baltar's Room)

D'Anna: We're all part of one big ecosystem.
Baltar: Yes, I can feel it, breathing.
D'Anna: Get used to it.
CapSix: So what'd he say?
D'Anna: I haven't asked him yet.
Baltar: Asked me about what?
CapSix: Earth.
Baltar: What, uh..
D'Anna: Earth, it's the thirteenth colony.
CapSix: Do you know how to find it?
Baltar: Not really, no.
D'Anna: Well, that's unfortunate. There was a hope, my hope, that if you knew the way to Earth it would justify keeping you alive a little longer. Come on, Six.
Baltar: Wait. Wait! Wait! Now when I say that I do not know exactly where Earth is,
bscap041 that is not to say that I do not know a very great deal about its probable location. Honestly, I spent hours, days! Weeks! Months! And months on a map that Adama and Roslin found on Kobold. And I correlated that with our - astrometric observations. I doubt anyone here can make the same claim.
CapSix: We'll get back to you.
(They turn to leave)

Baltar: What do you care about finding Earth?
CapSix: Because we're looking for it.
Baltar: You are?
D'Anna: Yes, we've decided that Earth is going to be our new home.
(They leave)

(Space - Viper Training)

Helo(wireless): Ship to ship training exercise is authorized. You may commence when ready.

(Galactica - CIC)

Lee(wireless): This is Apollo, red team set.
Kat(wireless): Blue team, set.

(Space)

Lee: Red team, Apollo. Soon as we clear the moon we're gonna be on their DRADIS. So keep your eyes up. They're going to hit us with everything they've got. (wireless) Stay in formation Starbuck. Narcho you're my wingman.
Kat: Blue team, Kat. Let's show these lazy fraks how it's done.

(Galactica - CIC)

Kara(wireless): Red team, Starbuck. I've got Hot Dog.

(Space)

Hot Dog: I'm hit!

(Galactica - CIC)

Lee(wireless): Red team, Apollo. I'm going after Kat.

(Space)

Lee: Got you.
Kat: Woohoo! You're going to have to do better than that Apollo. Come on!

(Galactica - CIC)

Kara: I'll take care of Kat.
Lee: Starbuck, you stay in formation, Nacho has Kat!
bscap073
(Space)

Kara: Inbound.
Lee: Starbuck you're too close! Frak!

(Galactica - Hanger Deck)

Galen: Compressor blew, looks like you tore a blade. Severed the fuel line, Cally check the tank! Gods this is ugly.
Cally: The tank's bone dry. There's not even fumes in here.
Galen: Captain how'd you land this thing!
Kara: Pointed it towards the deck and stopped when I got here.
Hot Dog: Bone dry she says, landed the bird without a drop of fuel.
Lee: If you wanna die, I will open up an airlock for you. But you are not taking one of my Vipers with you.
Kara: The bird's on the deck. I'm on the deck. I don't know what you're bitching about.
Lee: I don't give a frak what you do, Starbuck. You're done flying.

(Galactica - Tigh's quarters)

(He is drinking and smoking)

Ellen (Tigh is hearing her in his thoughts): I can't believe you did that to me.
Tigh: What!
Ellen: Don't look at me like that.
Tigh: Oh my Gods, Ellen!
(He walks out into the hallways)
Tigh: Ellen! Excuse me, excuse me, make a hole. Ellen?
Woman(to someone): If I've told you once I've told you a thousand times!
(Tigh finds a woman who looks like Ellen from behind - he puts his hand on her shoulder)
Tigh: Ellen! I'm right here!
Woman(to Tigh): What is this, get off me.

(Galactica - Racks)

Kacey: Kara! Kara!
Kara: Kacey?
Kacey: Kara! Kara!
Julia: Captain Thrace? I'm sorry, don't you remember me I'm Julia Prynne, I'm Kacey's mom.
Kara: Yeah, yeah I remember.
Kacey: Give me a hug.
bscap122
Julia: We've been staying over in the, well everyone's calling it camp oil slick, part of the hanger deck. And they've put up cots for, you know, refugees.
Kara: Yeah, yeah I heard.
Julia: Well Kacey's been asking to see you for days, and. I sent messages, and I thought maybe, you know, you'd come to visit.
Kara: You seem like a really nice person so I'm going to be honest with you. The last thing I need is a two year old friend. And Kacey sure as hell does not need me in her life. So do us both a favor and do not bring her around here again, okay? Go to your mom, Kace.
Julia: Sure, don't let us keep you up. Sorry honey we've gotta go.

(Galactica - Weight room)

Helo: There it goes. That's it. See, see, I told you you could do it. You look great.
Lee: Remind me to never let that happen again.
Helo: You've got It slim.
Lee: Ever.

(Galactica - War room)

Gaeta: I've been trying to reassemble President Balta - Doctor Baltar's work on piecing together the thirteenth tribes' path to Earth.
Roslin: I'm curious Mr. Gaeta, what is it that you trust about Doctor Baltar's research. How do you know it's not another one of his lies.
Gaeta: If there was one thing that I learned about Baltar, it was his extraordinary capacity for self-preservation. I think he wanted to find earth because he wanted to get there.
Roslin: How far did he get with his research?
Gaeta: Well uh, as you can see I'm still hacking through his notes. But it appears that he was trying to correlate our own astrometric readings with the map of constellations that we found back on Kobol, and apply his findings to uh, certain select passages within the scroll of Pythia.
Adama: Why the scroll of Pythia?
Roslin: Pythia's supposed to have chronicled the original journey of the thirteenth tribe on its way to earth.
Gaeta: If I can draw your attention to this passage: "And the caravan of the heavens was watched over by a great lion with a mighty blinking eye, red…"
Adama (interrupting): Red and blue.
Gaeta: Exactly.
Adama: Exactly what? We're looking for a lion's head?
Roslin: With a mighty blinking eye.
Adama: Blinking?
Roslin: Now the scrolls, they speak in metaphors.
bscap158
Gaeta: Initially I thought the Doctor might be off his meds as well sir, but then uh, I found this note, here, where he had written: "blinking equals pulsar."
Roslin: That's a star right?
Gaeta: Uh, no, actually they're the rotating cores of dead stars. They admit a blast of radio waves. From a distance they seem too..
Roslin: Blink.
Gaeta: Right. The Doctor found two in very close mutual orbit within this sector. The spectra-graphic readings I've found show one will appear to be red, and one will appear to be blue. Now, these pulsars appear to be in this nebula. We have never had a direct look at this area. Uh, it is possible with a couple of eyeballs out there, they might look at the nebula and see..
Adama: A giant lion's head.
Roslin: Well, it looks like this is the best thing we've got going, so unless you object Admiral, I suggest we go lion hunting.

(Basestar - hallway)

CapSix: The navigational markers you gave us may prove useful. We've sent a base ship out to investigate the pulsars and look for this lion's head of yours.
Baltar: Look this isn't easy for me. I don't think you fully appreciate just how hard this is. I have very conflicted, very ambitious feelings about helping you find Earth.
CapSix: Funny how all that ambitious and conflict seem to vanish once you felt your life hang in the balance. You should know there's still a lot of skepticism weather you've been entirely truthful.
(upon seeing a naked Eight)
Baltar: Um, I'm very sorry, we didn't mean to intrude.
CapSix: Come on Gaius.
Baltar: Are we going around in circles?
CapSix: I'm sure it all looks the same to you, doesn't it. It'd be hard for any human to navigate around here, especially without projecting.
Baltar: Yes, you've used that word before and I'm not quite sure what you're talking about. It helps you to what, exactly?
CapSix: Have you ever daydreamed and imagined that you were somewhere else?
Baltar: I do have an active imagination.
CapSix: Well we don't have to imagine, we project. We choose to see our environment in any form we wish, whenever we wish. For instance right now you see us standing in a hallway, but I see it as a forest.
bscap169
(Forest)

CapSix: Filled with trees, birds.

(Basestar - Hallway)

Baltar: Like the walks that you and I used to take, on Caprica?

(Forest)

CapSix: The ascetic's what gives me pleasure. Not the simple memories. Instead of staring at blank walls, I choose to surround myself with a vision of God's creation.

(Beach)

Baltar: Well, I think I understand projection, but it's a bit of a coincidence isn't it? That I could see such, a vivid reality that I've created and the Cylon projection experience seems to be so similar.
HeadSix: Is it a coincidence?
Baltar: Well what are you saying? There's a connection? What because of my experiences with you? Am I a Cylon?

(Basestar - hallway)

CapSix: What was that?
Baltar: Oh, nothing just uh, I was just talking out loud. Excuse me.

(Galactica - Pilot's room)

Sharon: So are you sure you wanna go in second seat again? I mean I hear you're a pretty fair pilot now.
Racetrack: Yeah well, too many pilots, not enough birds. Anything to keep me flying at this point. You want me I'm yours Boomer.
Sharon: Oh no, Boomer was uh - she was someone else.
Helo: Listen up! We need a call sign for Lieutenant Agathon.
Pilots: Cromedome! Titanium! Raptor Adaptor! Vomit Chaser! Tin Can! How about Athena? Microchick! Digital Babe!
Helo: Wait, wait, wait, wait! What was that?
Hot Dog: You know the Goddess of wisdom and war, usually accompanied by the Goddess of victory.
Helo: Athena it is.
Kat: Hey Colonel! Colonel come have a seat. Over here.
bscap224
Tigh: Enough of that to go around?
Kara: Haha, always.
Tigh: Dead mans chest, cut throat game, not usually your style.
Kara: Well it is now. And I'm in it to win. You don't like it, find another game.
Tigh: Now there's some straight talking. You see the line up outside the head? Fifteen civilians standing in line, picking their noses, waiting to take a shower.
Kara: Frakin civilians think they run the ship now.
Nacho: Well, beats what we had before, the ship was like a tomb.
Tigh: You wanna know what alone feels like, try spending a few weeks in a Cylon holding cell.
Kat: Yeah, it was a bitch on both sides. It wasn't exactly easy coming up with a plan to save your sorry butts.
Kara: Yeah you guys had it rough huh? Hot showers, three squares a day. Viper jocks didn't even take a shot till you jumped into orbit.
Helo: Hey, we all made sacrifices.
Tigh: That so?
Helo: Yes, that's right.
Tigh: While you were pinning wings on your Cylon girlfriend our people were strapping homemade bombs to their chests. Doing whatever they could to take the bastards out. So forgive me if I don't get all misty over your sacrifices.

(Basestar - hallway)

CapSix: You seem distracted Gaius.
Baltar: Why.
CapSix: You can rest easy, at least for now. The data on Earth's location and your valiant rescue of the baby has gone a long way towards impressing the others. I used to think you and I would have a baby one day.
Baltar: There are only twelve Cylon models. But in the entire occupation on New Caprica I only saw seven. Now here again, the same seven. Who are the final five?
CapSix: I can't talk about that.
Baltar: Come on.
CapSix: I can't. It's complicated but we don't talk about them ever.
Baltar: But you'd know one of them wouldn't you? If you saw them, one of the final five, if they were to walk past here right?
bscap232
D'Anna: Six! We have got a problem.
Doral: A base ship. The one we sent to investigate the pulsars in the lion nebula. We've lost contact.
D'Anna: Trouble is we know almost nothing about the missing base ships status.
Doral: We received a garbled distress call, then silence. Not surprisingly, their hybrid sent us a confusing set of data. Our hybrid is analyzing it.
Baltar: What are these hybrids he's talking about.
CapSix: Be quiet Gaius!

(Basestar - Command)

Eight: Our hybrid's deciphered part of the data set that we've received from our scout ship.
Doral: This can't happen to us, it's impossible.
Simon: It is not only possible, it may have been inventible once we took human form.
Doral: We're not human, we're not like him.
Leoben: God has chosen this time, this place, to test us. Weather we fail or pass the test, is up to us.
Baltar: What's going on.
CapSix: The missing base ship, it's been infected with kind of disease.
Baltar: Disease?
Eight: Yes, it's killing them, all of them.
Simon: If an infected Cylon dies, and carries this disease with them to into a resurrection ship, it could rapidly spread, potentially infecting our entire race.
D'Anna1: Alright, we make sure the resurrection ship is out of range then we jump to their location, send in a group of centurions.
Eight (interrupting): No. The data set indicates that as soon as the hybrid was infected the centurions started shutting down. We don't know how ours are going to be infected.
D'Anna2: All raiders and base ships are also susceptible.
Simon: Of course, we are all created from the same genetic pool.
Doral: Then no Cylon can board that ship without risking infection.
bscap248

(Baltar Projection - Beach)

HeadSix: Say you'll go aboard the infected base ship and investigate what happened? You sent them to that nebula, remember?
Baltar: Are you mad?
HeadSix: Hehehe, you have to prove to them that you can be counted on in an emergency. Show them you're worth keeping alive.
Baltar: What if I catch the disease?
HeadSix: What are the chances that a Human could catch something that infects a centurion or a raider? That is if you're Human. And if you're really a Cylon, one of the final five you haven't seen yet. Then wouldn't you just rather get it over with a die?

(Basestar - Command)

Baltar: I'll go!
CapSix: What?
Baltar: Yes, I'll go. Look I am a trained scientist! I can go to the base ship, I can make observations about the Cylons, there physical conditions, bring back information about this disease which now threatens all of you.
Simon: We land, the disease that's killing the Human Cylons could infect one of our raiders as well.
Baltar: Then don't send a raider. Surely the war has furnished you with some Colonial vessels.
Eight: He's right. We could program one of our raptors to approach on auto-pilot.
D'Anna1: Alright then, prepare to jump the ship.
D'Anna2: Make sure the resurrection ship knows to stay behind, out of range.
CapSix: A truly selfless act.

(Galactica - Pilots Room)

Tigh: Hey, I could use a refill here.
Hot Dog: Here. (to room): Here's to knowing that someone will always have your back!
Tigh: Sentiments good but, in my book trust is an overrated commodity.
Kara: Mmm! That one I'll drink too!
Kat: Frak you guys.
Kara: What is your problem, Katraine?
Kat: My problem is you, Captain. And all this "us against you" crap!
Kara: Ha! Truth hurts doesn't it? Give me another one.
bscap282
Kat: You know what Starbuck, whatever happened to you down there, why don't you take it out on the Cylons because we busted our ass to get you off that rock!
Tigh: You think that means anything? Every colonist that landed on New Caprica was loyal - to a point. It was amazing watching those people that you thought you knew go over to the Cylons.
Kara: At least in the end we knew where we stood huh?
Tigh: Is that so? Then how come you are off flight duty and some Cylon lover is holding down my post. Don't kid yourselves, you're on your own in this life. Each and every one of us.
Kat: Why don't you tell that to the pilots who died getting you off that rock.

(Galactica - Adama's Quarters)

Helo: And Gaeta is briefing Sharon and Racetrack on the scouting mission to the pulsars.
Adama: You mean Athena and Racetrack.
Helo: Word travels fast.
Adama: Yes it does. I understand that morale's taken a hit on the flight deck.
Helo: Nothing we can't handle sir.
Adama: I'm also told that Colonel Tigh is spending a lot of time down in the pilot's rec room.
Helo: Both him and Starbuck, sir. They've been holding court, second guessing the rescue, bad mouthing the crew that stayed up with Galactica, suddenly if you weren't in the ground war it's like you can't be trusted.
Adama: And people are listening.
Helo: Their word carries a lot of weight. You're right, they're destroying moral and unit cohesion.
Adama: They both know better.
Helo: I don't think they care sir.

(Basestar - Hybrid's Chamber)

The Hybrid: Two protons expelled at each coupling site creates the mode of force the embryo becomes a fish that we don't enter until a plate we're here to experience evolve the little toe atrophy don't ask me how I'll be dead in a thousand light years thank you thank you Genesis turns to it's source reduction occurs stepwise though the essence is all one. end of line. Baltar: Is it aware of us?
CapSix: Of course, she's aware of everything aboard.
bscap309
The Hybrid: New paragraph. Pancreatic fluid at one with the continuum of evolutional matrix we're here to experience evolve the little toe reduction occurs stepwise though the essence is all one full stop. New paragraph. FTL system check.
Baltar: Do you have any idea what it's talking about?
CapSix: No. Most Cylons think the conscious mind of the Hybrid has simply gone mad and the vocalizations we hear are meaningless.
Baltar: But not everyone thinks so.
CapSix: The ones you know as Leoben believes that every word out of her mouth means something. That God literally speaks to us through her.
Baltar: She sort of controls the base ship, does she?
CapSix: No, she is the base ship in a very real sense.
Baltar: Mind gone mad.
CapSix: She experiences life very differently than we do, Gaius. She swims in the heavens, laughs at stars, breathes in cosmic dust. Maybe Leoben's right. Maybe she does see God. We're wasting time.
The Hybrid: Jump.

(Basestar jumps - Gaius is on a raptor heading towards the infected basestar. On the raptor he looks absolutely horrified. Upon reaching the infected basestar, he sees raiders hanging motionless.)

(Infected Basestar - Hallway/Command)

(Human Cylons are lying all over the floor, throwing up, coughing, dying)

Baltar (to his basestar): There are bodies everywhere, others dying.

(He continues to step over bodies. He takes pictures of the dead Cylons. He sees a strange object lying in the room)

Baltar: What the hell is that? Definitely man made.

(He inspects the object, when he is grabbed by a dying six)

Baltar: You're severally dehydrated. You must drink some water.
Six: Kill me.
Baltar: You do not understand there is no resurrection ship nearby you will not be downloaded into a new body you'll just be gone.
Six: Please. Please I can't bear that.
bscap373
Baltar: I'm here to bring help, alright? I'm just going to take some blood samples for analysis on the base ship, and then we will be able to make a treatment for the disease. You must breathe, please. Take some water.
Six: No, you're from Galactica.
Baltar: No, I'm from a base ship. Tell me, do you know what this is? (points to object)
Six: We found it, floating at these coordinates. (struggles) Must be some kind of (struggles) beacon, a marker.
Baltar: It looks too old, it looks very old!
Six: Must have been left by the thirteenth tribe, (struggles) infected, poisoned. Left by some humans like you to destroy us. (struggles)
Baltar: What?
Six: A human device, filled with a pestilence. You sent us to this place.
Baltar: It wasn't me.
Six: You knew we'd bring it aboard.
Baltar (Six keeps talking about how he led them to this disease) : You don't know what you're saying. This is the disease speaking through you calm down! I am going to bring help I am going to bring help. Now shush! Shush! I would never do anything to hurt you. I am going to bring help. Be quiet, be quiet!
Six: You wanted the other base ship to follow. Suffer the same infection. You're going to destroy us all. You lied to them!
Baltar (Six keeps talking): Shut up! Shut up! Be quiet! Shut up! Shut up please! SHUT UP!
(Baltar strangles six)
Doral (over wireless): Gaius do you hear us? Gaius do you read? Do you read? Are any of them alive, Baltar, what do you see, speak to us. What do you see? Are any of them alive?
Baltar (to base ship): This is Gaius Baltar. I'm returning to the base ship.
Doral (over wireless): What do you see?
Baltar (to base ship): Absolutely nothing. Nothing of consequence. There's nothing left to do here.

(Basestar - Command)

D'Anna: Nobody likes it but we have to make a terrible choice. Do we attempt to rescue, and risk the lives of our fleet even our species? Or do we leave them.
Simon: The answer won't be found in science because there's no cure in science!
Eight: Well there has to be! Look at them! Do we just leave them? We're condemning them to death!
(arguing amongst Cylons)
CapSix: No, even the Humans don't abandon their own!
Doral: They must be sacrificed for the greater good.
Simon: There is the greater question.
D'Anna: Yes there is. How did this happen?
bscap404
Doral: Well it's Baltar. It's his fault - he led us there deliberately. He's been working with Galactica the whole time.
Baltar: It wasn't me. Whatever you think I did I didn't do it, honestly.
D'Anna: Baltar, we followed your coordinates, found a disease with no treatment or cure.
CapSix: If we leave they're doomed, never to return.
Doral: Perhaps God would smile upon us for our mercy.
Eight: Oh listen to you, you can barely even speak his name.
(This incites an argument amongst the Cylons, until D'Anna slams her hands into the control panel)
D'Anna: We have to leave. We have to jump and leave them to their fate. There is no other way.
(The Hybrid screams at the thought of this)

(Basestar - Hybrid's Chamber)

The Hybrid: Mists of dreams drip along the nascent echo and love no more. End of line.

(Basestar - Command)

Doral: The Hybrid objects.
D'Anna: She doesn't get a vote. Jump the ship.

(Basestar - Hybrid's Chamber)

The Hybrid: Jump.

(Basestar - Command)

D'Anna: This disease, must have come from someplace. So what did you notice on the infected ship?
(CapSix is looking at the pictures Baltar took from the base ship on a computer screen)
Baltar: Nothing, nothing! I am just as baffled as you are!
D'Anna: You noticed nothing suspicious on the infected ship.
(CapSix sees the picture with the beacon in it. She knows Baltar is lying)
Baltar: Nothing whatsoever.

(Galactica - Pilots Room)

Pilot: Admiral on deck!
Tigh: Admiral.
Adama: Give me the room.
(Starbuck stands up to leave)
bscap453
Adama: Stay in your seats.
Tigh: Have a drink!
Adama: Give me your side arm.
Kara: What?
Adama: Your sidearm.
(She lays her gun on the table. Adama cocks it and throws it back on the table)
Tigh: Hey, there's a live round in that!
Adama: Now one of you, and I don't care who, pick that weapon up and shoot me.
Kara: Admiral I don't know..
Adama (interrupting): I didn't say to talk. You've done enough of that already. I said to pick up that weapon, and shoot. What's the matter, no guts? You don't got a pair? You're both fraking cowards.
Tigh: Watch your mouth.
Adama: Or what? You're going to turn the rest of my pilots against each other? Poison the crew? You've already done that, Saul. Both of you.
Kara: Yeah, well if you're looking for an apology it isn't gonna happen.
(Adama shoves Kara off her chair, she lands on the ground)
Adama: You were like a daughter to me once, no more. You're a malcontent and a cancer. And I won't have you on my ship. So you have a choice: You can figure out how to become a Human Being again, and an officer, or you can find another place to live, off of this ship. You're dismissed.
(Kara slams her foot on the ground and storms out)
Tigh: You gonna kick me outta my chair too?
Adama: Listen, I don't know what you've been through..
bscap470
Tigh (interrupting): Don't patronize me, say what you came here to say.
Adama: You're full of bile, hatred. And I know it has something to do with Ellen, I'm sorry for that. And if you need time, Saul, well you take all the time you want. But I gotta run a ship. The last thing I need is a one-eyed drunk sitting down here, sowing discontent and disobedience. So I'll tell you once again, Saul. You can pick up that weapon and kill me, or you can get your ass back into your quarters and not leave until you're ready to act like the man I've known for the past thirty years.
(Tigh picks up the weapon, and disarms it.)
Tigh: That man doesn't exist anymore, Bill. And you won't be seein me again.

(Tigh Exits)

(Galactica - Head)

(Kara stands in front of a mirror and takes out her knife, everyone turns to look at her. She pulls her hair back into a ponytail and saws it off at the neck.)
bscap486

(Galactica - Tigh's Quarters)

(Tigh walks to his desk with a bottle of alcohol)

(Galactica - Camp Oil Slick)

(Kara looks for Kacey. She finds her, and Kacey smiles to see her, and puts her arms out to hug Kara. Kara cries)

(Galactica - Tigh's Quarters)

(Tigh continues to drink. He looks at a picture of Ellen and holds her clothing. Tigh begins to realize he needs to put the past behind him)

(Raptor - Space)

Racetrack: Oh my Gods it's right there! The Lion's Head Nebula and the blinking eye! Holy crap, it's the road to Earth! Ha ha ha!

(A disabled raider flies by - they look up to see the infected basestar)

Racetrack: Oh my Gods, let's get the frak outta here! I'll start the jump!
Sharon: When God's anger awakens, even the mighty shall fall.
Racetrack: Frak! Athena, we need to get out of here!
bscap503
To Be Continued…
